Always Remembered (via Totsymae’s Blog)

Witness the power of love and community that can occur between online friends who have never met in real life, yet share an emotional bond as deep and rich as though they live next door. I am quite touched by both the heart and soul of Totsy, sharing her gift of artistic talent to capture Kay in all her beauty as a loving tribute to Kim and her family. Kay is Kim’s dearly departed sister, so brutally murdered almost two years ago in an act of domestic violence. I dare you to click on the above link and not be touched…

For me this act of kindness rings coincidentally true to the core with a totally unrelated conversation I was having a mere two days ago with a good friend of mine, whereupon this rather astute observation was made to me (I’ve purposely changed and bracketed the pronouns to show how striking and relevant that observation indeed is):

That’s what humans do: ‘Form attachments’. Doesn’t need to be face to face. If [they] weren’t “real” in cyberspace what would have compelled [Totsy] to do what [she] did for [Kim]? We are real. So real that [Totsy] is spending time on a person [Kim] who [she] is most likely never to meet, … but has caught [her] imagination.

    Wow, Phil. You may not call yourself a writer but you do it so well. Both Kim and Kay are in the hearts of so many of us who visit Kim’s blog. I’m glad to have met all of you to partake in this community of fellowship.

      The gift in and of itself was so very touching. The video that unfolds the artistic process, bringing Kay to life from pencil sketch to nearly finished form was sublime. You’ve many talents there Totsy, and I’m just delighted you’re willing to share yourself with others. I’m likewise glad to be a part of this community.

        You’re so right. A big heart, Kim has. I’m glad to bring her a few smiles. So hopefully, she smiles a little more today when
        she receives the actual portrait. While her loss has been great, she’s turned her pain toward being a voice for women.

    ~~~~Phil,
    You have captured my heart.
    Thank you for your support, encouragement, & compassion.
    Xx Lots of love flowing to you, sweet man, from Minnesota.
      Kim, that heart of yours is way too big for anyone to totally capture and possess. No Kim, your heart is big enough to be shared with everyone. I was touched by Totsy’s generosity and thoughtfulness and am quite honored to pass along your story of Kay.
    A fine example of friendship that shows
    that even in the virtual realms of this world
    there is a genuine pulse of authenticity…
    Have a very nice rest of day Phil 🙂
    It makes sense to me that we could have deep connections with fellow bloggers. In my real world I am surrounded by friends who are so busy they don’t have time for much else but work and their immediate family.
